On March 25th 2017, LML Research Assistant Matt Jordan will be speaking as a featured panellist at the Eighteenth Annual Student Human Rights Conference held by the University of Nottingham's Human Rights Law Centre.
On 22 March 2017, LML member Dr. Julia Powles will be delivering the Annual Lecture on Law and Emerging Technologies at the University of Leeds. Her topic is ‘Data Kingdoms and Keys: The Case of Google and the NHS’.
From 20 March 2017 - 14 April 2016, LML member Dr. Rumiana Yotova will be conducting a research visit to McGill University to work on a collaborative project with LML's Distinguished Visiting Research Professor, Prof.
On Friday 17th March, Dr Liddell will be chairing a panel discussion entitled "Who owns us?" as part of the Cambridge Science Festival. This panel will explore the knotty legal, ethical and social issues associated with the medical use of patient material (such as tissue, cells and antibodies), as well as data.
On March 16th 2017, Dr Skopek is to give a talk entitled "Big Data, Health Predictions, and Privacy" at Global Genes, Local Concerns: A Symposium on Legal, Ethical and Scientific Challenges in International Biobanking at the University of Copenhagen.
On Wednesday 15th March, Dr Liddell will be a panellist at the Cambridge Science Festival Early Detection event 'Is earlier necessarily better?'.
In a talk entitled "What is the Practical Significance of Myriad for Genomic Medicine?", Dr Liddicoat will present a point of view emerging from a detailed quantitative study.
This talk will focus on the non-obvious implications of the Montgomery decision. For example it will identify the less obvious range of situations to which the Montgomery decision is likely to apply, and also the less obvious practitioners who are likely to be affected.
