On 1-2 December 2022, a kick-off meeting for the SSHRC Partnership Grant took place in Banff, Canada. This new multidisciplinary global governance partnership has come together to address the development of drug-resistant microbes that threaten health, food systems, and the environment. The workshop brought together the main partners of the grant to discuss the new project.

The goal of this partnership is to analyse and shape the social conditions needed to manage the globally shared pool of effective antimicrobials in a way that is Sustainable, Acceptable, Fair, and Effective (SAFE). Professor Kathy Liddell (Director of LML) attended the workshop. She will be leading a comparative analysis of regulatory approaches for managing common-pool resources along with Professor Timo Minssen (University of Copenhagen) and Professor Kevin Outterson (Boston University).

The Centre of Law, Medicine and Life Sciences is proud to be part of this partnership which is addressing such a vital issue facing our global community.
