Prof. Mateo Aboy, Director of Research in Biomedical Innovation, AI, and Law at the University of Cambridge, shared his insights at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on 22 November 2023. His lectures focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Computing, and evidence-based (empirical) IP research.

The first lecture, based on his publication in Nature Biotechnology, discussed the patent landscape of medical AI, revealing significant trends and potential developments in medical AI (Nature Biotechnology, 41(4), 461-468). The second lecture drew on research he published in the International Review of Intellectual Property and Competition Law (IIC), where he mapped the patent landscape of quantum technologies (QT), and analysed IP and innovation trends in this field (IIC International Review, 53(6), 853-882).

Prof. Aboy's lectures at WIPO exemplify LML’s interdisciplinary expertise in technology and law: including AI, quantum computing, and evidence-based (empirical) IP research.
