This September, Matt Jordan, a PhD student and member of LML delivered a talk on Legal Boundedness, Lived Experiences and the Liminal Self during the 2025 AHRC International Conference at Queen’s College, University of Oxford. Speaking on the Perspectives of Methodology panel, Matt drew upon his PhD research on the experiences of surrogates and transgender men who give birth to discuss how rigid legal categories, such as legal motherhood, often fail to capture lived realities, and how interdisciplinary approaches can help to bridge this gap.
Matt commented:
"I was delighted to be invited to speak at the AHRC International Conference. My appreciation of multidisciplinary research has undoubtedly been shaped by my time as a member of LML, and it was fantastic to have the opportunity to speak about the valuable insights that interdisciplinarity can offer in legal research."
