This May, LML welcomed Professor Jacob Sherkow (University of Illinois) to the Faculty of Law. During his visit, Prof. Sherkow met with LML Director Prof. Kathy Liddell and Prof. Mateo Aboy to present his new project, ‘A Sociotechnical Approach to Genomic Data Security’.
Prof. Sherkow holds several appointments at the University of Illinois, including Professor of Law at the College of Law, Professor of Medicine at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, Professor at the European Union Center, and Affiliate of the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology. His interdisciplinary research focuses on intellectual property, regulation, and bioethics of advanced biotechnologies. He is a leading authority on IP protection for genome-editing technologies, such as CRISPR.
It was a pleasure to welcome Prof. Sherkow back to Cambridge. We’re grateful for the thoughtful exchange and look forward to continuing the dialogue.
