On Wednesday 25 September, Dr Kathy Liddell (Director of LML) attended 'What's the value of real world evidence in the context of the life sciences industrial strategy?', a CSaP policy workshop organised jointly with the Department for Health and Social Care, and the Office for Life Sciences.

Attended by delegates from academia, policy, the NHS, regulatory agencies, and private industry, the roundtable workshop facilitated discussion of the opportunities and challenges that policy makers should consider in order to capitalise on the possibilities of real world evidence (RWE). Particular focus was paid to whether real world evidence could support industrial growth through reducing some of the cost and time burdens of clinical research, and provide a sound understanding of the efficacy and safety of medicines and medical technology.
