The 2024/25 LLM class in Law, Medicine and Life Sciences is deep into revision, preparing for their final assessment on 4 June. Over the course of the year, the students have grappled with a diverse array of legal and ethical challenges arising from developments in medicine and the life sciences.
From debates on research ethics and ownership of body parts, to questions around organ donation, data governance, and consent to treatment, the course has encouraged rigorous analysis and lively discussion. Students explored reproductive rights, end-of-life care, and the limits of autonomy – as well as broader regulatory challenges in public health, genome editing, pharmaceutical innovation, and antibiotic resistance.
The class of 2024/25 has brought energy, insight, and thoughtful debate to every topic. We wish every one of them all the very best as they prepare for their exams!
