LLM Paper: Law, Medicine and Life Sciences

Dr Jeffrey Skopek, Dr Kathy Liddell & Dr. Stephanie Palmer

This course offers an advanced understanding of the legal issues raised by medicine and life sciences.  It focuses in particular on three areas: law that governs the doctor-patient relationship; law that regulates and incentivises medical innovation and technologies; and law that protects international and national standards of health.  Special attention will be paid to the theoretical and ethical frameworks underlying these areas of law, core themes that cut across them, and contemporary controversies.  The primary focus of the course is UK law, but it has global relevance and includes pertinent developments and insights from other countries.
